Introduction to Linguistics (LING201/LC261)
This course provides an introduction to Linguistics, the scientific study of human language. The areas of linguistic analysis that will be covered include phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, historical linguistics, sociolinguistics, and first language acquisition. In addition to the core concepts and methodologies from each domain of linguistic analysis, we will also discuss topics such as the role of language in society, the nature of dialect variation, and language change.
